Henry M Jackson Park
Everett, WA
Honoring Everett-born Senator Henry M Jackson the park design explicitly connects Jackson’s living legacy with the lives of kids in the neighborhood today. MxM team members led site design and project management, facilitating architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, and interpretive subconsultants. The site design incorporates a destination playground, community garden, picnic shelter, restrooms, walking paths, and interpretive elements, with stunning views of the North Cascades mountains that Senator Jackson was instrumental in protecting.
MxM team members worked to create a unified design approach that also met a particularly demanding 6-month, grant-driven schedule. The 1.75 million dollar capital budget was tight given the aspirations for the 4+ acre site, so costing occurred at 30%, 60%, 90% and 100% deliverables in addition to interim steps, providing cost-conscious evaluations for different design options. Throughout the process, weekly communication meetings with the City of Everett helped to confirm the direction of the project as various design elements evolved and were refined.
